How the hell do you bolt on the snort stage 6 manifold????
I'm having so much trouble. I never knew this was one of the hardest things to do. I just can't get the bolt holes to line up once the bolts are in. Bottom bolts are in but now the top ones don't line up with the holes. Man this is frustrating.. |

I know another bloke that couldnt physically bolt it to the motor and it wasnt through inability, he and his father are both qualified mechanics, its an ongoing thing they have with Snort at the moment so i wont elaborate.. Also we cant sledge the forum sponsors can we.

Compare it to a gasket and make the bolt holes match.
I had to adjust one bolt hole on my stage 4 or 5 manifold years ago. Wasn't a big deal and only took 5 minutes. |

the stage 6 manifolds are supplied with a multi-fit headplate ( from xf-current model ) these are laser cut and we have not had any reports of fitment issues , we did have some problems with the earlier production manifolds ( older stage 4 ) with bolt holes as the headplates where cast moulded but this was resolved when we stopped the production versions
we suggest using studs/flange nuts to secure the manifold , beware that the studs are fitted correctly if any are not seated correctly it can also cause fitment issue

It seems to be the holes just don't line up.
I'll compare it to the gasket to check how they line up with the ports and such. Just got to get it back off first. Been tryin to use bolts which is a major PITA so I'll definately give the studs a go sounds a bit easier. Thanks guys. xr6_corbin wrote: Did you get the heater pipe issue resolved? Yeah I cut it and used some braided line so it drops down under it. How did you join the heater pipe to the braided line? i hope you didnt just use a hose clamp and put the hose over the pipe... The best way would be to get a threaded fitting brazed onto the end of the pipe and get a speedflow fitting on the braided line to join them. From experience, hose clamps on braided lines dont clamp as well as rubber hoses as the braided line is usually less compressable therefore making it more prone to possibly leaking... Not saying that it definatly will leak but just want you to have peice of mind

I actually havent put the braided line on it yet. Its going to be pretty tight on the solid heater pipe but it should just go on. If its pretty tight and on a fair way should a hose clamp hold it?

If you were using this method to join your oil drain line for ur turbo then yeah it will work as it isnt under much pressure at all, but you gotta remember the cooling system is pressurised. If it was my car i would use speedflow fittings to join them as i wouldnt want to risk blowing a hose off. If you have allready bought a braided line it will probably be too big if your intention was to put it over the pipe. My advice would be to buy a smaller braided line something along the size of the coolant feed/return for your turbo and braze threaded fittings onto the end of where you cut your heater pipe so that its joined by thread using a speedflow or earls type fittings. Do you understand what i mean? IMO i wouldnt just put the braided hose over the heaterpipe. Just think if you had the car all up and running and that hose blew off or starting weeping under pressure and its under the manifold, you would possibly have to pull the manifold back off to get to the hose/pipe. And im sure you dont wanna make a career out of removing and installing that manifold as you are allready having trouble with it.... just my 2c

Yeah i get what you mean. Ill go ahead and do that so I know its going to be all good in the future.
I can get to the hose and pipe with the manifold on so its not so much of a drama. Im getting the studs and flange nuts today and will hopefully get the manifold on tonight. Should be much easier using these than bolts. Let you know how it goes |
