Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows a decent place to have an underdrive pulley installed in my BF XR6 NA. I have been quoted $650 by one tuning shop in Adelaide, which was actually more expensive than their XR8 version. Form reading on the net I assumed that it shouldn't be too much more than $400 installed.

If anyone knows a good place in Adelaide that would be great.

Thanks,
Brett.

If by under drive pulley you mean the harmonic balancer (the pulley on the crank shaft), I wouldnt swap it for anything but a genuine ford balancer... the balancer was designed to balance out harmonics that can damage your engine or loosen flywheel bolts or what ever... smaller pulleys dont actually do their job as a harmonic balancer, and can cause problems.

TAFE teacher told me all this, and he's been wrong before... but I beleive what he has said about these pulley's.

^^Depends if the balancer and pulley are one item or like on a windsor where pulley bolts onto the balancer.

peice of piss man remove the thermos, then the belt
crack the bolt on the balance take it out take off the washer put the bolt back in then use either a 3 jaw puller and hope it works or get the ford special tool to remove the balancer as you can't use a duck foot type...

then pull out the bolt put the new balancer on washer and bolt do it up to 90nm i think (just till the motor cranks over is enough) and then put the belt on make sure its tensioned right and put the thermos on and DONE...

if you have the right tools shouldnt take more than 25mins.

His view that smaller is the problem is a little simplistic.
