I purchased a Velocity blue BA XR8 In belief that it was a mark 2. It has mk2 badging, and the colour (velocity) is a mk 2 colour, it has the illuminating power window switchs (I think only mk 2)
Checked with Ford, same colour it was delivered in

Yet no auto headlights, no Alloy Pedal covers, no rear leather centre armrest. Never mind the 6speed manual change mines an auto  And no 18's but thats coz of the Cobra's 8-)
The car is built 09/04, indicating its a mk 1! October was the release date of Mk2 from what I can gather.

Does anyone else have a confused Bitza car like mine lol, or was this a common thing to happen with cars near the series change. Maybe this is a runout of the mk1 with leather and premo at a lesser price then a non optioned mk2, as it was retailed in Dec 04 ?

Im not too worried as I got it for a steal pretty much, but rather curious.

Also, the car came with fpv badges on the front and rear (replacing the ford badges) , on the sides, and on the steering wheel. Its been tastefully done. Is this too much "wank" factor or due to the 260 being put together at FPV is it near justified lol bit of a trivial question I can see the worms about to burst from the can!

Reminds me of the hybrid 1998 EL Falcon.
I think the bottom end was all AU gear, but top end was EL.
Or something similar.
It's a pretty common thing towards the series change over, Id assume.

I've seen late BA mk2s with BF bit like oil filter and trans cooler and some other minor things.

Yours might be a case of ford gearing up for the new model run but needing to bring in some things early for what ever reason.

Mines a 10/04 Mk2 Pursuit in velocity but it's a Pilot that was owned by Ford hence the number P005. I don't know if there's anything unusual about it. Only thing I've noticed is the coil covers are the same blue colour as the rocker covers whereas the '05 Mk2 GT I had had grey ones. Never seen anything other than grey ones on Mk2's. It doesn't have traction control but I'm not sure ute's did anyway?
