Hey everyone,
So. A few months back I noticed that the squeaking sound that was coming from my brake pads was becoming louder and more frequent. Along with this, they were beginning to squeal occasionally when I would apply pressure to the brakes. So, naturally, I changed them. -SILENCE------------ I was certain I'd fixed it. How wrong I was. About a month or less after, the sound returned. Now it's even louder. I've narrowed it down to the rears. Why is this fellas? The pads should still be spankin' new. What are your suggestions? Thanks guys |

sure your hand brake shoes are not dragging? this will also cause a squeek when loaded up certain ways.

warped axle or rotor can cause squeaking... because the contact isnt continuous.

metasaiah wrote: "homocidal" your brakes make you wanna kill gays? haha yeah well I'm thinking about it I'd say im pretty certain it has something to do with the brake pads/rotors because when pedal pressure is applied, the squeaking stops. As i say, occasionally under braking, they squeal but thats not really what's $hitting me up the wall. If it were the bushes the squeaking would continue regardless of whether Im braking or not, am I right? dc_todd wrote: sure your hand brake shoes are not dragging? this will also cause a squeek when loaded up certain ways. I initially thought this may be the issue so I adjusted the handbrake cable to no avail... Oh and when I put some wd40 on the discs the squeaking disappears for about half an hour. |

Would not have a siezed caliper on ther rear would you? the slides can foul up and not release the pad from the face of the rotor properly. pull your caliper down and lube up the slides with some copper or lithium greese.

put a touch of copper grease where the pads seat in the caliper, its a dry metal on metal squeek..

You can use some sort of goo to absorb that vibration. I used to use the CRC stuff: But now I’m using the Bendix blue goo. I put a thin layer on the back of the pad and a bit on the end of each brake pad, ie the bit that sits in the mount/holder. http://www.bendix.com.au/content/brake-lubricant |
