Wow, that's some nice engineering there dude, on the trans cross member & the radiator support!

With the hole in the floor for the gear shifter, what about opening it up a tad, and putting in a shifter that has a bend, sort of like a holden 1 tonner bench seat 4spd shifter has, or maybe like a T5 short shifter, so it can mount the lever in the console in the stock position, or close enough the gear boot still fits as it should?

Cheers

this looks like it going to turn into one hell of a car.

i like those mags of the orange falcon, what condition are they in?, what size are they?, and can you put up pictures of each one

cheers bear

depending on how much you want for them and how much postage is i may be extremely interested, and i would want them shipped without tires as it will be cheaper thats if you would take the tires off

cheers, bear

yep I can take the tires off for postage.
They come with 3mm spacers, plus the wheel nuts if you want them.
I'd like $1000 for the set. I can post them through work which should be alittle cheaper.

Yer I'm going to open the hole up and make a cover plate. similar to what a VL has.
I like the location of the T56 shifter being closer to the driver, but it is a problem with the center console. I am looking for a EF/EL wagon with a bench seat because i'm told they have a finishing piece for the dash were the center console clips in, then i could use an AU center console which will have the hole in the right position. Or i may cut up the EL center console and move the position of the shifter hole. Or I may graft a AU console ontop of the EL console. Either way I'll be moving the window switches into the center console storage comparment.

Fitted the tailshaft up today.
I probably could have gotten it made alittle longer, the yoke hangs out the same as factory EL shaft. but the splines in the yoke don't go all the way to the end. Hmmmm

Started working on the exhaust, figured if i had two BA exhausts i could make one to suit my car.
I'm only going to use the middle muffler which is a twin 2 1/4 straight through.

My hat goes off to anyone that has welded there own exhaust or intercooler piping, such a time consuming job.

Enjoy, Anthony

I did a little more tonight but it's two steps forward and one step back, I've decided to start from scratch with the pipes under the diff and will complete one half first then build the other as a mirror image.

Cheers, Anthony

Did alittle more tonight and i'm generally happy with how it's turning out but i think i'm going to have to add some more exhaust hangers to the chassis to support the weight of it. The couple i have holding it up at the moment seem to be stretched :|

Image

Later in life it'll be getting a 3 1/2' system with all the trimmings. And i'm thinking of halfing the depth of the spare wheel well so the exhaust can run under it instead of around.

So i've pulled the engine out and sorted my heater pipes
I've used parts from the BA and EL heater pipes to make what i needed to bring the outlets around to the right side of the motor.

So standard BA pipe this side slightly shortend so the bend doesn't rub the firewall. Don't mind the AU engine mount :D
Image
Image
And using the EL pipe cut down and reshaped to get it above the engine temperature sensor.
Image

This section is a BA front half with the turbo water fitting, brazed to the rear section of the EL heater pipe with the heater bypass fitting.

I'll get some photo's tomorrow of the mesh filter that everyone keeps going on about. :D

Cheers, Anthony

102,000km and the bastard filter has never been removed once. The little pissy c-clip they have in there was siezed to the fitting took 1hr to finally dig it out. The filter itself came out in little pieces and the mesh was blocked with carbon. Who ever figured it was a good idea?

Image
The c-clip. The mesh filter. Whats left of the plastic case that the mesh filter is attached to with the hardened o-rings

Seems that A/C bolt holes is something that has been lost along the way on the BA block. Using the bottom rear bolt hole it lines up very close.
It's sits forward of the rest of the pulleys by 1.5 - 2mm but it is 250mm away from adjacent pulleys so i don't think it's really going to matter.
It also happens that the thickness of one rib on the belt is 2mm, so if it does throw a belt i can buy a 5rib belt and everything lines up with out issue. (Had an old belt lying around)
Image

With the front upper and lower bolt holes there is about 12mm miss alignment of the bolt holes
Image
Image

Using the standard spacers on the bottom for alignment.
Image
I started making a bracket for the top bolt hole
Image

Cheers, Anthony

Finished my A/C bracket tonight

I was worried the two separate brackets would rotate and loosen when driving so i put a strap in-between.

With the A/C pump bolted on

See officer it's factory

So I need to tidy some stuff up in the engine bay but it's ready to be dropped in and wired up

Cheer, Anthony
