Ive often heard it said that the EF/EL Harnesses are different.
Was the change at the end of the EF II Series, or was there a month/year where the change was noticed? - and what was the change. Ive only heard about the plug from Dash to ECU being different Thanks Nigel |

There's a fair few differences. I had to rewire an EF loom into my previous EL as part of a climate control upgrade.
plus/connectors are different, BEMs are different. IMHO get the right loom you need first up, it'll be so much easier.

Oddly enough There is no "right" loom.
I have an EFII XR8, and It looks like I'll be rebodying into an EBII. K-Frame is going over, as is the Engine Bay side of the ECU Harness. Im toying with the idea of the Dash as well, but I like the fairmont stuff. Which connectors did you see as different? - was it just the one going down the Passenger side rear of the dash? Rewiring Smartlock doesnt count it the main dash plugs are the same. Rewiring isnt an issue if it comes to it, but Id love to avoid it as much as possible. Nigel |

Testing my memory (haven't had the EL for 5 years now),
I had to change the dash loom - body loom plugs (drivers and passengers side) had to change the BEM to an EF one (or I'd have to rewire the EF dash loom to fit the EL BEM) airbag looms are separate entirely, so no qualms there.
