Hey hey,

I have done a conversion from a haltech to a AU fairlane ecu to run my VCT engine which is fitted to a 60 series land cruiser, but i'm having issues.

Everything i think we need is wired up, it has a chip fitted with smartsheild disabled, we have spark and injector pulse, along with fuel pressure, but it won't start. It's trying to, f@rt and carrying on but won't quite start.

WTF is going on? I feel i'm just getting the s**t and missing something simple, especially as it won't start when it has the vital elements??

Cheers,
Andrew

Does it have a good 12V supply to the coil?
Have had the same issue before with a vehicle and it was the fact that the power to the coil wasnt carrying enough current.
Would cough , f@rt and splutter but not run.

Yes pump is working sweet, fuel lines correct. I even pulled the injector rail back and wound it over to confirm they are squirting fuel.

The coils have power, but your theory on enough power is definatly worth testing, i will run a direct jumper from the battery to coil now and check it.

fingers crossed

You could have a dodgy cam angle sensor. When it was running the haltech was. It using a cam angle sensor? Try spraying aerostart into the intake, if it starts on aerostart its fuel related.

i did have cam angle sensor in mind but havent tried yet, so are AU not like EF in regards to cam angle sensor? I had two EF's both ran fine without the cam angle sensor. Would this stop an AU from starting?

It's definatly not fuel or spark, both are working more than enough, thats why it's such a head f###

au and ef are slightly different, au are more precise as they are full sequential injection where ef are still batch fire on injection..

I thought about running a e series ecu, but i'd have to wire it again i think?? Also would have to return my chip to get changed to suit the e series ecu. I'll try this cam sensor first before i do any more changes.

The haltech i pulled out because it started to fail then finally died, but after all this bull s**t maybe it was my now existing problem and not the haltech that failed. Either way i prefered the ford ecu idea because if the haltech died while out bush i'd be stuffed, but if a ford one dies i can just fit a spare. I do alot of full on fourbying.

Cheers for help so far troyman

Well problem solved, thanks troyman, if it wasn't for you mentioning the cam angle sensor it wouldn't have started today. I honestly wasn't sure it would be the problem because of ef's not requiring them.

Note to anyone with an au, cam sensor very important!!

Andrew.
