hi i have a ford ef 96. i recently cut the plug wires to my headunit and forgot to disconnect the battery. ever since than my car has not be firing up, but cranks. i worked out that there is no fuel getting to my injectors, however i can hear the fuel pump turn on when i put the ignition on.
anyone out there know how i could fix this problem? |

you may hear it, it could be failing to pick anything up though. check the sock thats on the pump itself . I have seen these pretty heavily blocked stopping fuel flow and stuffed pumps that you can still hear being cactus.

other likely scenario is... checked your fuses? if you shorted a power and earth (as you would have done when you went chop)... You're likely to have blown a small assortment...
Primarily the interior light fuse... The smartlock is on that circuit... so that is always a possibility... Cheers, Tim

actually, could be right. does the interior light run on the circuit as the power windows?

na... the pwr window are one a 30 amp c/b (or fuse?) and the int light is a 10amp fuse...
Easy way to check... When you open the door does the interior light come on? If no... Replace the bulb or the fuse... Or giggle the door switch... Get dirty sometimes... You need to find what the after market unit immobilises... It may be very well that... I'd pull it and throw it personally... after market units fail and leave you stranded on the side of the road... Cheers, Tim

usually when your playing with the headunit if the car wont start its done a fuse under the dash board or a fuseable link under the bonnet, i done both these when i got my first ef, 16 and stupid lol, i shoulda disconnected the battery

central locking is the smartlock unit... which is powered by the interior light fuse was it not?
