Hi All,
I've got a BA/BF Falcon - the car is 100% standard.
I've recently noticed a sound coming from the front left side of the car after start up - it happens when I start moving the car - about 15-20m down the road I get a random noise, it doesn't matter if the car is cold or hot - if i turn the car off and turn it back on without fail 15-20m down the road the noise is made.
its like a soft clunk then some quick swishing noises i guess is the best way to explain it.
what is this noise?
Cheers,

Mitch

front left you say, is it when you apply the brakes or does it get louder when applying the brakes?
what about turning corners?

louder if I apply the brakes when its happening - and only happens first 10-15m of the drive

would not be the knock back on the rotor pushing the pad back a touch into the caliper? pads cool quite fast and you may hear an initial dragging sound from a pad as this is done with no temp in them.

If its a noise you can replicate, its hardly random though. give us more info, what kind of noise? how long does it last when it does it? only at speed or could you get a mate to walk beside the car with the bonnet open and try and pin point it more. are you just being anal? its been known to happen, people do sometimes expect eurobox quietness from a large aussie made car.

just went down to the garage and on my bf it is definiteloy the abs module making the noise, like it's powering up or something like that

haha well i have come from a euro..

I'm more worried about it being a noise thats not supposed to be there - although it is rather annoying!

Random thought: Could it be the vapour canister purging? Not sure where that is on a BA/BF. It should absorb fuel vapour from the fuel tank when you stop, and release it again shortly after starting the engine again. FWIW
