yep im sure its the same block as the 4.0l its just not bored out as far as the 4.0l so it should be the same, and the au mls gasget is much better than the factory replacement for the e series motor

but make sure your block is really clean and straight not warped if not it will leak oil and water out past the gasket

What should i use to clean the top half of the block after i pull the head off?

Use a wide-bladed scraper first. Then, use some carby cleaner to finish off. Blow everything clean with some compressed air.
