Gday
Sorry for another oil leak post, but I have a pr*ck of a leak that's been hitting the belt and flicking sh*t all over the place, for some reason took a while to find out where it was coming from. Sprayed it with high pressure hose n took it straight home to catch the leak and it had already pooled up..is it a quick and easy fix, or do I have to root around. easy fix, undo bolt enough that it just hangs on the thread, put some silastik under the bolt head, just enough that it will drag it into the hole, do it up again. let it have a chance to go off before driving it again.

Ok so the silastik didn't work.
Found that its pissing out at the back not the front.. any ideas what would be the easiest way to seal the back up..or am I going to have to McGyver something up. Im down to the last of my oil and need this fixed before it gets serviced. Remove your powersteering pump, you don't need to disconnect the hoses, lift it aside, remove the mounting bracket, clean the face on the motor casing, apply blue silicon on the casing, refit mount, use silicon on bolt heads, refit pump and belt. Allow to dry.

I had a leak from the same place on my EF. Couldn't stop the leak with sealant. Turned out to be a failed O-ring around the chain tensioner oil restrictor - it sits in the front of the block, behind the timing chain cover. The high pressure oil blew through the timing chain cover gasket, found the bolt and forced its way out.
If you can't stop the leak with sealant, this may point you in the right direction. The oil pressure at the timing chain tensioner is more than a sealant can normally hold. If this turns out to be the cause, the timing chain cover needs to come off - not a small job, sorry to say. Hope the sealant does the trick for you.
