Am thinking about wireing in a shift kit and needed some advice and everyone seems freindly on here
Just wanted to hear pepoles experiances with them, the home made resistor kind, and the pre boxed ones you can buy. If i set it to a moderate shift am i likely to damage my tans( I own an au s3)? and if so is it worth the risk? Cheers Sorry if this is posted wrong kinda new to the whole forum thing haha.

if you set it just a little firmer than the standard shift it will reduce wear because there will be less slipping between gears but if you set it rediculously firm it will be worse for it

uniacidz wrote: As Bry said, too firm can stuff you ya auto, good setting can reduce heat due to less slipping and hence reduce heat which is a auto box worst enemy. Mine is adjustable and only only sort I recommend. The way mine is set up, on easy throttle can hardly notice it, plant it and comes alive Mine is like that too, but I don't have a shift kit installed.... that I can see.

You got one of the home made jobs, or the ones you buy?

I made an adjustable one from scratch for my EB and worked well. Only bad thing I've heard about using elec shift kits is that you need an aftermarket trans cooler? It's why I haven't put it in my EL yet, don't want to ruin the auto...
