need to vent... booked my wife's g6 (2008 owned for 7 weeks) in for a service the local ultra tune(don't give a f*&k) and got them to change the coolant. My wife picked it up at the end of the day, drove it around yesterday and today. Now i just went out to blow up an air mattress using the car battery and as I'm there i look over the engine bay and what do i find.... an empty coolant reservoir. So now I'm thinking WT F ,i start the the car undue the cap and a little bit of steam is comin out, run out the back and grab my water bottle (5 liter ) and start pouring in . to my surprise it take's about 6 & 1/2 liter. If it's done any damage to it i will go there and rip them a f^#king new a-hole..end of vent...
no it hasn't leaked nor did it leaked before hand |

AU's and I would assume beyond have an ECU stategy to run without coolant so probably no damage, you could cause damage by filling it when hot though. I would be looking at a drain tap leaking or a hose clamp loose.
They will probably blame you for not being more specifc with your request, they did after all change the Coolant for Air...

(IN JOHN CLEESE ACCENT) >>> " Oh, you wanted the coolant filled right to the top?" " Well why didn't you say so" BTW sounds like they must have been day dreaming. Hope all is well. Good luck. MITCHY

Going in there and ranting at them won't get you anywhere.
Put it all in writing and send it to the shop that car was at and to the Head office, the details can be found on the Ultratune web site. You've also learnt the hard way why you don't go to places like Ultratune or K Mart Auto Care. They all work down to a price and the mechanics are pressured to get things done fast, which turns into poor quality work. |

Some of the best are the small family owned mechanics businesses.....They tend to treat the car far better than alot of the big companies.

- then there was the guy who took delivery of his new Commondung Ute - but it ran like crap on the way home so he rang the dealer to complain - dealer was at a loss - "we give all our new cars a pre delivery service including new plugs, filters etc." - sure enuff the air flter was indeed brand new - proven by the fact it was still in the wrapper....

Those big dealerships are all about money - Get you in and out as quickly as possible and get as much money out of the customer as possible. They don't have pride in their work hence the reason there are so many complaints.

I work in the biggest dealership in town and I've seen a few dramas with customer cars. It's not that they don't care. They are always under pressure from above (as mentioned already) and sometimes have two tecs on the job. That can cause all sorts of dramas.
I've seen wheels come off a car at a previous job because the second mechanic thought the first guy did the nuts up!!

I only booked it in there for the warranty side of things and my mechanic(who is a one man owner & operator) has shut shop for some time off. I didn't want to take it to the local ford dealers i now how they run the service side of things a seen some f*^ked up work come out of that place to(worked there as a detailer for a couple of years). If i could keep the warranty i would do all the work myself

FKN lol at the filter being in the wrapper.
I agree about dealerships, I worked at one and they are tightasses down to the last cent then charge a bomb for their work. Glad I dont have a car that needs warranty work, people are always surprised when I tell them ive never had my car 'serviced' in over 2 years. I do all maintenance myself and only when specialist work needs to be done I drop to a local mechanic that has only two employees (one is owner) and they both do good work. He is expensive though :-/ |

Can someone tell me how you do a coolant change without taking the bottom hose off the radiator it still has the little dome cap on the hose clamp. there is only one little dome cap missing and it's off the top hose clap. the more i look, the more evidence i find of them NOT doing a service on it

And I forgot the one where a dude took new car for a drive and got back complaining about it being far too hard ride quality - salesman was in the process of blathering on about modern suspension can seem that way but it really isn't bla bla bla when our man who had knelt down to take a peek cut him off to point out that there seemed to be blocks of wood or something locked into place thruout the suspension... They hadn't removed the transport blocks before putting the car in the lot.
