"The tunes I put on the J3 flatten out the spark trough normally found in an EL ECU so that it suits the log manifold. What you read is true for a stock ECU only."
thats the words from jason. i knew i told him i wasnt running the bbm with the el ecu, you dont HAVE to..... i will keep talking with jason and finding my issue.

Pull the fault codes from the ECU, and see if there's any relevant ones.

No need to advance the timing. Pretty sure it's a lean miss, but it's hard to know without a dyno sheet/AFR trace.
Chris' original emails said he had problems before fitting the chip -- he also doesn't currently know what cam is in it, so I assumed a generic 'stage 2' type cam. He's going to get me some more info to work off and I will have another go at sorting it out! Cheers, Jason

i'm trying to decide same for xg ute: j3 the stock ecu with log manifold or use an el ecu and change to bbm later....i'm leaning toward the stock option. less trouble, less money, less need for dyno time... and apart from waiting for the chip from t.i., a 2 minute upgrade. sounds like the go..
my only real concern is fuel economy anyway..basic extractors/exhaust upgrade will up the grunt enough for what i want, which is to use it as a ute!). i bet 5$ that old mates problem is the cam. he needs dyno time. |
