howdy ive just replaced the main and rod bearings ,timing chain,oil pump and i would like to know if they need to be run in for any period of time or just drive normally ,i know ring need to be run in but not sure about the bearings .

take it easy for a about 500km but they dont really need running in like rings do.

I would also change the oil and filter after the run in period, 500kms.

read in some mag the other day that you should not use friction modified oils when running in an engine but they should be used after the first oil change.

do penrite make synthetic oils because its the only one i trust

yeh i think thats only with rebuilds and re-rings. it can be bought from places such as super cheap, repco etc. its called 'RUNNING IN OIL"

Penrite make natural, semi synthetic and fully synthetic based oils.

Whether the oil is a natural or a synthetic base does not define how much friction modifiers it may contains :)
