has ne1 put a 3:9 diff ratio in a el ghia auto? i seem to have a prob with mine. sometimes the car seems 2 go into a different mode and hold gear longer and not change till 6000rpm. then after a bit of driving, it will go back 2 normal and change at 5500. i have a different speedo gear in it but dont think its the prob. any help needed

With EF's, i read in a recent post that some auto behaviour problems can be due to a faulty inhibitor switch. Maybe this can also be a problem with EL's so you could consider that.

With the auto, the ecu works off the vehicle speeds from an output wire on the back of the speedo rather than rpm. So by dropping the diff ratio that low the engine has to rev harder to achieve the speed at which it must shift for that throttle position setting. Put the original speedo gear back in and make up a little chart of what your indicated and actual speeds are.
