pulled the ecu out of my Ef fairmont 1994 today and noticed someone had cut the salmon coloured wire with white strip second down on the rear end side of the ecu and ran a wire to it that I can track to the engine bay before it goes missing........

That will help you somewhat. You would be better off putting this in the electrical and ECU forum but.
