My el gearbox is slipping inbetween gears sumtimes it does sumtimes it dnt it has 226ks on it i was wondering how much it will cost to fix as i dnt wanna have to buy what it dnt need atm it has enough oil in it it jus had a pan change (it was doin it b4 incase u were wondering)

Is there a way i can test the s5 while its in the box sealed and can i test the bands without opening it up

I got told by a mate it was just the bands

Follow your mate's advice (and check the fluid level while you're at it).

being a el box there is no external band adjustment, its pre set on assembly so unless its low on fluid or a pressure solinoid problem its a box out job...

Wheel yeah im going to transmision place today hopefully n yeah fluid is brownish but is high enugh

yeah he rekons even tho oils s**t its a recon or a 2nd hand replce

he qouted 400$ for labour that cheap?

thats petty cheap if it's a good recon box, ive seen some mates replace ther boxes and only get a few k's outta them b4 they go,

Sorry i ment $400 just for labour alone i think reco wss like 2000

He said a au box will fit is it tru? Cuz i have a mate with a 01 au futura n he is after s manual conversion i was guna buy the box off him

au box should fit ive never fitted one myself but there are a few lads around town here that have done it. as for how much the guy is trying to slug you for labour and a reco job i hope you told his to sh!t in one hand and wish in the other n see which fills up first. you can pick up reco trans for pretty cheap dad brought a reco box for mums ba last year for about $500 and fitted it himself.
