hi for some time now ive had dark agent rims for my ef fairmont ghia. they came with 235/35/19 tyres on them. today i got new tyres that are 245/35/19 fitted. on the way home i heard a noise and had a look. the tryes are rubbing on my upper ball joints on the front and on the stub axle arm to a lesser extent. the left side was so bad that i had to fit my spare tyre to make it home.
so my question is... how do i fix this short of getting new tyres and has any one with dark agents had a similar problem? should probably add that the car is not lowered at all and as far as i can tell the balljoints are originals. any light shed on the possible solutions would be greatly appreciated. rolling diameter of the 245 is too large and clips the nipple. Remove the nipple and find something that fits flush. I got a feeling that it is well and truely on the ball joint and this wil not remedy it though..
Could always let that part of the tyre get worn down on the remainder of the nipple. Or do a nice big smokey burnout on your mates driveway (its never classy to do one in your own) wear the rears down a bit, rotate your tyres until you achieve clearance. Otherwise you need some 235's for the front.

damn i wa afraid of that. these balljoints dont have the nipples and it rubs about 2cm into the ball joint. i was going to drive for awhile to wear them im but with in 150 meters the left was smoking quite badly...

Thanks The guy at the tyre shop didn't tell you that this might happen? Or did you specifically ask them to give you 245/35/19 tyres? I must say that's some reasonable neglect from the tyre fitter to let you roll out of the shop knowing it will rub. EDIT: Also can you PM me which store...so I can stay away from them. Cheers.

when i went to get the new tyres fitted i asked if i could get the 245 and wether theyd fit or not and was told they would fit. what gets me is that one side is considerably worse then the other. so it looks like ill just get the 235 tyres for the front then.

ha you checked the camber mabe one side is worn right out, the front left on the eb was worn so bad you could wiggle the whole wheel and used to scrub on the drivers side so i put a kit through both sides sits nicely now.
