Hey guys,

the ohm issue has always been a cloudy area for me. What i want to know is, is if i have a 500wrms mono block amp that runs at 4 ohm and i have two subs that run at 250wrms 2ohm each, if i put them in a series set up can they run. These figures are only for the question i dont have these but i need to know for a mate who is wants two subs but is tight for cash and will be buying soon.

Cheers

Most monoblocks (in fact all i think) are stable below 4ohm and will produce more power at lower impedence.

What your saying will work but if the monoblock is 1ohm stable why not configure the subs as a 1ohm load and get more headroom from the amp.

ok i'm a little slow on the ohms loading side of things, could you explane how to do that? parrral is amp pos to first subs pos and then first subs neg to 2send subs pos and the back to amp right?
so how do you lower the ohms? is it like normal pos to both subs and neg to both?.
(can you tell i've only ever run one sub per amp?)

and with that the 50wrms will be split down to 250wrms each or will it remain at 500wrms each. It sounds stupid but just want to clarify.
