First question. How much of the mechanical and electrical work can you do for yourself? Second question. What sort of time frame are you looking at to get it completed? Third question. How much money are you prepared to spend up front, or over time? Cheers BenJ

There are three key parts to the conversion. Part 1 is the physical fit. In an EL you MUST notch the front of the K Frame to clear the front of the BARRA Sump. The E Series engine mounts will bolt up, but bonnet clearance is an issue. You need to lower the engine in the engine bay to clear the bonnet, and/or cut part of the bonnet bracing, possibly both. The standard exhaust pipe and cat converter will bolt up to the exhaust manifold but it is 30 mm further forward, so a spacer needs to be made. If fitting extractors, the cat will need to be made to fit anyway so no problem there. Then you have to connect up all of the water connections etc and customise them to fit, not to mention pwr steer lines and A/C lines. Part 2 is the wiring. I am building a custom loom to supply the BARRA PCM all of the power and earth feeds it needs, and to interface with the car. You need to supply oil pressure and water temp signals to both the BARRA PCM and the E Series ECU, so you need to double up on the sensors. Then you need to feed the E Series ECU a tacho signal using a module that hooks up to the BARRA Wiring. You also need to fabricate a mount for the electronic throttle pedal and a loom from the pedal to the PCM. Part 3 is the Flash Unit. To make the engine actually start after you have bolted it in and hooked up all of the wiring, you need to purchase an XTC X Cal 3 flash device. This is used to turn off all the security and other crap, and to tell the PCM it is now a manual etc. There is no guide or manual on how to do this. It has only been done by DIY guys a handful of times, and information is thin on the ground. I am documenting my progress as I go so others can see how I did it, and can duplicate, or even better, improve on my work in the future. Good luck. Cheers BenJ
