sorted now, pod filter , built air box around it, custom piping and EL throttle body right angle bit....and the bonnet shuts too.

If the issue is that the XG has some pressed sheetmetal, what about the option of heating the airbox bottom up using a heat gun, and pressing it into the xf. You should be able to remould it so it fits?

I chose a pod for flow and simplicity, and kept the XF radiator. You see in the pic above though that I used a large part (about 35%) of the EEC V airbox as a heat shield for the pod.

It looks fairly close to factory this way. And the car goes very nice as well. Completely different to the same engine in an EF

yeah i cut the bottom off an air box and plastic welded it but not enough room with EF radiator. I made an enclosed box around the pod today , alot less induction noise, I'll whack a pic up when i can.

Couple of things.
Try the XG Radiator - Its designed for the job!. It fits in where an XF one does. You just need to relocate the pressure bottle up the back RHS of the engine bay... as per XG. Its been done a few times.
Also try the XF Radiator. I use one on my 5.0 XF. Ive used windsor (XA I think) top and bottom hoses, and use the standard XF overflow bottle. Its working a treat - and again, fits like it was meant to be there (it was????). I have no cooling issues whatsoever

The EF Radiator is 5cm too big. I think from memory its also 3cm too shallow, but the XG Radiator is the same. The XG Radiator has EB style fittings on it, but the coolant bottle hose is blocked off (for the one at the rear of the bay) and it is 5cm shorter

XG doesnt have coolant tank input on the side which i need and the coolant tank doesnt fit properly up the back with a BBM installed, I also have thermo fans which i dont want to muck around with. I am happy with my coolant set up doesnt run hot, the pod in the box i made seems to do the job. The photo is a rough fit and needs to be painted and new rubber sealing strip around it.

Ahh yes. IVe also heard that the ef end tank can be put on the xg radiator giving you a few extra cm

yeah i was thinkin that too at one stage, i took the end tanks off this one to clean it out and thought about putting the passenger side end on the drivers side from another radiator to get rid of the coolant pipe but really wanted to ditch the crap XG t piece thingy ( heater seems to be better now). Doesnt matter now. Its all in and done. I couldnt believe it was only an O ring type gasket sealing the whole radiator so i threw some extra hi temp sealant on it as well. Never seen the temp go over half, thermos come on at 92 and off at 86. The head I have has been recoed recently and they tapped in an extra pipe at the back of the head to help with cooling, it T's into the coolant tank in/out rubber hose. Thanks for everyones thoughts
