i think you are gettin tuning mixed up with the adaptive learning system in the cars computer.
tuning is when you take it to a performance shop, they plug it into the computer and adjust the timing , air/fuel mix, shift points, and various other features to make your car better. also when you add some bolt ons like exhaust and intake. so to make the most of these bolt ons your car is tuned to use them to the best ability of the car.
adaptive learning is when your car "learns" your driving style and adjusts slightly accordingly. being shifting a little bit higher in the revs if you are always hammering it around and that sort of thing.
