hi all ive just replaced the timing chain cover and had a new water pump , idler pulley fixed and transmission leak from the cooler line fixed but now it hunts a fair bit at idle it hunts up and down gives a sound like a vacum leak also throttle response isnt too great i shoud also point out im pretty sure the power steering needs replacing but with the idle problem any ideas?

Did you disconnect the Battery? If so it could be still be relearning. If you haven't disconnected the battery, do it and leave it for a few hours and then reconnect it. Resets the ECU.
As for the vac leak, have you check all your hoses? This can cause fluctuation in idle. Could be a crack or split hose. |

Take your serpentine belt off and see if the noise goes away. Won't hurt the car, just don't try and run it for a long time or it might get a little warm with no water pump. Noise could also be the tensioner pulley's.

hi all the mechanic cant find the idling problem now ive got a few theorys but any help would be greatly appreciated revs between 100 and 600 at idle every now and again it idles properly but still has a flay spot just after take off then drives normal except when idling

Disconnect the ISC, reset the base idle and see how it idles with the ISC diconnected. If it idles OK then reconnect the ISC.
