Hi all, thanks for the feedback on the photos I posted yesterday of my XR8 under 'Just turned sixty and still a boy".

I mentioned I was contemplating putting a 5 speed box in it and have a couple of questions.

Is there a box that is specific to the V8 or would one from a 6 cylinder be the same and handle the additional power of the V8?

I understand that the ECU needs to be changed, are these easy to acquire? I do not really want to do the ECU trick modification I have read about here on the forum, I want the swap to appear as near as factory original as possible or I just won't do it. I consider the car too good to half doing things.

Is it a major job that is best done by a mechanical place or can it be easily done at home? I do not have a hoist.

Any information or suggestions would be appreciated.

There is a V8 specific box as the input shaft is a different length between the 2, send EVL098 a PM, he may have a complete conversion to sell.
