Can anyone advise me why my BA Fairlane feels like it is swaying from side to side. Is there a cross bar like a Panhard Rod that may have worn bushes so that the whole rear suspension moves side to side? It appears that the rear wheels are moving sideways (very slightly) when I tile the mirrors and watch while weaving the car a little at 80k. I had the diff bush replaced a few months ago and thought I had the suspension fixed, but doesn't look that way. Any advice would be much appreciated.

It could be tie rods/rod ends

Funny, I used to understand suspension systems, but today's stuff is over my head. Tie rods/ends sounds right to me too. Any other thoughts though?

I get that feeling when the diff bush is shagged.
And I've had a bush last 1,200k. So check the bush again. Other option to look as is the alignment. any toe out on the rear will cause that feeling too.

How are your tyres? I had shagged 19inch tyres on the rear of the missus g220 and it was swaying really bad.
Took me a bit to figure out what was going on.

Any advice would be much appreciated. i have had something similar happen to me recently, going around corners at 35 - 40 whatever, felt the back of the car go to oneside, didnt feel it go back the other way though, until a bit later, different day whatever, then it went back the other way. the mechanic i went to said a couple hundred dollars but cant remember what parts it was that needed replacing, it involved getting a wheel alignment done at the same time though coz the diff gets taken off the car or something and gets put back on according to the measurements that are taken. hope this helps a little, let me knoe if you want more info, i will ring him and ask him more about it anyway. |
