Hi all.
So the Ford OEM kit is rubbish, so heres what i have done JL Audio Cleansweep RF Power 1000.2 -> Morel Dotech Ovation 6s RF Power T20001BD -> 2 x 12" RF HX2s The sound is great, only the dreaded engine noise is there. Ive sanded back and properly grounded the amps, with 0ga and 2ga respectively, and they have their own 2ga and 4ga power run from battery RCAs are on passenger side, power on drivers side Steps taken so far Run rcas direct from cleansweep -> amp noise confirms that RCAs are not picking up noise between CS and amp. aux input to cleansweep noise cheap Ground Loop Isolator less noise - im thinking this is the issue ipod -> amp no noise, bypassing CS again points to CS grounding issue. Other things i want to change 2/0ga earth from Neg battery terminal to alternator mount bolt Upgrade earth on cleansweep My guess is i have a grounding issue at the cleansweep itself, im going to borrow a Stinger GLI and see if that removes the noise, to confirm/deny grounding loop. Only a bandaid solution I know, but something worth trying. I know theres a bit of an issue with falcons and noise, but anything else i can try ? Does the CS have a preout fuse that might be blown ? Causing it to earth down the RCAs ? Is soldering up some wire and grounding the RCAs directly worth trying ? This isnt sometihng ive had to deal with before, my previous installs have always been noise free, but this is my first time at trying to integrate with the OEM kit. Apart from the noise, im quite happy with the outcome! __________________ Update!!! A bit of an update on this. I discovered that MOST of the noise was coming from my crossover placement. I had them mounted behind the kick panels, and pulled them out to play around, and discovered that most the noise went away. I have since relocated them and its much better. However, noise is still present, and noticable, particulary at low volume. The noise dissapears when using an iPod directly into the amplifier, which makes me think its a ground loop issue, as previously mentioned. A stinger SNG20 made a small improvement, but not much. I temporarily wired the earth from the Cleansweep to the same point as the amp, with no change. Is it worth pulling the dash apart and connecting the cleansweep earth to the same point as the ICC ? Apart from that, I cant think what else to try ?? Maybe try a cheap LOC from jaycar and see if the problem persists ? Im still of the opinion theres a ground loop, but its doing my head in.

No one has any ideas ?
Since then ive tried using a jaycar line converter, no change. Ive run a 4ga cable from negative terminal to the alternator mounting bracket, no change. Im just about ready to rip the gear out, and put it back to stock!

How do you have the speakers mounted to the car?
I had the same problem and managed to stop it by putting some thin foam in-between the spacers and the car. |

Thats not actually a bad idea to check, however i doubt its going to do anything, as i tried another headunit, connected up to the cleansweep wiring, and all the noise went away. Its definitely coming from the OEM unit.
So I have 2 options. Install a/m headunit, or rip it all out and go back to stock. Havent made up my mind just yet!

Im running a monoblock and 12" in the boot and a 4 channel amp under my passenger seat that powers 4x 6.5" splits, all running off the OEM Headunit using 2 stinger Line converters. So it is possible to run your setup from your stock ICC

All I can suggest is just isolating everything individually, try disconnecting your speakers from the amp and just plug an old one directly to the amp. If the noise is still there then the noise is between your headunit and your amp. If it disappears then its the way your speakers ate wired or mounted
How is your cleansweep wired to your Headunit? |

I know the sound is coming frmo the OEM unit, i have changed/rewired/isolated EVERYTHING else.
So, Im over it, and Ive pulled it all out. Lets face it, Im too old for doof doof
