As some of you may be aware ive just completed a complete rebuild of the engine in my EF.
Today after driving it for say 20 minutes, it developed a severe miss causing a dramatic loss of power and severe vibrations.

I limped it home and started to check things.
Once cool it kicked over, no dramas and ran smoothly. Got 10-20 mins of driving in and the miss returned :? (is definitely when at operating temp)

So far I have:

Checked leads (made sure they had'nt come loose, inspected the boots and wires and even threw an old set on just in case)
Checked spark plugs (seemed clean with no damage)
Checked that all sensors were connected securely.
Inspected the rocker gear for damaged arms springs ect.
Checked fluid levels.
Checked for oil in coolant/coolant in oil.

I have replaced all elecs ON the engine with brand new items EXCEPT injectors.

Was thinking the MAP?

Just fitted an old coil pack from the last engine. I will update shortly.

They looked fine once removed (Clean, unburnt and no cracks). But this will be the next thing for me if it continues.

OK. It seems as though the problem has been rectified.
I dont believe it was the coil pack as when I was installing it the main connector it would'nt go on so apon inpection I noticed there was a red rubber seal on the harness plug and also in the coil pack connector  .
So it was removed from one and it seems to have worked! :D :D

Thank christ for that!!!!

Was Gonna say coil pack, they have a habit of doing this, also get the same problem with a dizzy motor when the cap gets porous, when it heats up the humidity causes a miss.

If you get a good Miss, she should feel nice and firm but soft and spongy in the right places, tight with a little damp in the nether regions and as for sound, best ones are very quiet till you until you open them up

It's a perfect description of mine, but I got mates who's miss has the spongy parts all over and the wet parts show up when they start dribbling s**t.

In my case, it was a 95% loss of power and it could barely get out of its own way.

Was a scary thing after rebuilding the motor, there were many bad thoughts going through my head.
