okay first of all its a 2v cleveland stroked not sure what to so what would be the stroke of a 393 408 etc?.
when we dynoed it 12 years it produced 502hp, not long after the dyno we sold the car ('72 xa) we kept the engine had it sitting for about 10 years now its time to give it a reberth! but snce then we have lost the of modifications sheets as we moved.. so it has roller rockers 4 brrl carb etc c6 gearbox, oh and i also would like to know how much oil does the gearbox hold? i im not sure what sort of ca its has but i sure it is hydraulic.. so wha would be the best oil?

sorry if i do not make sense aha but i am only young and this engine was dads.. so can anyone help please?

Have a look at the 351 stroke in the manual from aXY to XE. Might have had a 51 crank n rods dropped into it.. is it apart?.

Hi the first thing to do is measure the stroke. All V8's with 4" Bores have a surface area of 100.8 Square inches. This is the total of all the cylinders piston tops if you like. So a 302 has a 3 inch stroke
3 x 100.8 = 302. 351 is 3.5 x 100.8 = 351 400 is 4.00 x 100.8 = 400. 289 is 2.875 x 100.8 =289 and so on . You can measure the stroke by using a piece of wire! Put it down no 1 spark plug hole with engine on top dead center and mark the wire, rotate the engine half a turn and follow the piston down with the wire mark it again, measure between marks, that's your stoke, multiple that by 100.8 that's your engine size. If it's been bored +30 it adds 6.00 Cubic inches on a 351 a bit more if it's a stroker. Hope that helps you work it out, worth remembering the 100.8 bit. Regards T.P.V.M.
