Hi All,

Just a simple question. Did any EL/NL V8 have Speed sensitive power steering. I have a SPSS rack in my EL, and have converted from the i6 to a V8. The lines never lined up perfectly, and it has now started to leave a trail everywhere the car moves. I am wondering if it is simply a matter of getting SPSS lines for the V8, or if I would need to replace the whole steering rack (or have lines made to suit my application)

Cheers
Chris

'I think' all V8/I6 NL Fairlanes have SSPS, along with all V8/I6 EL Fairmont Ghias - XR's and others would not. I'd think the pinion housing would have the switch blanked off for the V8's. The std I6 lines fit okay to an I6 SSPS setup with some slight pipe bending and bracket bending.
This question is probably best asked to George - he would post up some diagrams also.

Where is it leaking ?? If at the pinion housing, probably O rings, or the pipes aren't fitted square, if this is the case, you'll most likely have cross threaded the unions, which is not good.
