a annoying update tried to take the wagon for a drive it barely got up my street (slight up hill) then got around to the servo and it made a loud pop and stalled in the middle of the road and wouldnt wind over  so with a few people standing around and noone bothering to help i pushed it to the side of the road my shoe came off in the process  rang dad and it fired when he got there so nursed it back to my house (1 minute away) tried the leads off the xf but it didnt seem to happy about that and wouldnt go so i went and bought some new ones that are numberd makes it abit easier i was trying to guess with the ones off the xf 90% sure ive got the firing order right it did start but stalled after so im going to have to get the timing looked at i recon its way out and then hopefully it will go and actually move and not max out at like 3,000rpm (no tacho) with my foot flat

ok so drove the wagon today and all i can say is its a heap.

driving to my brother inlaws work and it over heated quite badly dad said just drive it so limped it back to a friends got so hot it didnt want to start again  3 hours later it finally started. heres a list of the issues so far.

over heated, flushed cooling system and left thermostat out still over heats

transmision smashes into gear and slips on 2nd and 3rd gear changes and doesnt like to kick down

cant use more then 1/4 throttle or it just pops and carries on like theres not enough fuel (fuel pump?)

steering doesnt feel to good

has a vibration at highway speeds

brake fluids going some where no idea where also needs brake pads and rotors machined

heater/fan doesnt work at all

rear wiper doesnt work

central locking barely works and the boot doesnt lock

thats what i noticed from driving it and giving it a rough look over.

hey mate heres my view of the problems

with the overheating is the water dissappearing and not seem to go anywere? if so check ur oil sounds like a head gasket

also sounds like cam timing is out and possibly the ignition timing

tranny might need a service or replacing

brake pads are just wear and tear

heater/fan will be wiring issue (all the wiring and hoses should be behind glovebox

steering rack or pump might need replacing

the plan for the car was if it turns out good with a couple of problems id fix it up or if like the list above sell it for parts.
