Driving to work this morning, the falcon decided it was high time to not change gears automatically. I had to tiptronic the years just to drive. Now the car won't rev past 4k without a massive struggle, and has less power than a ride on lawn mower. Cheers all for any help. Also, my cat converter was loose 1/2 a turn on each nut. Tightened, but since the no gear change s**t, the cat is rattling again....

BA i'm guessing? You're gonna need the PCM checked... Either Ford or somebody you know with a scanner... Something has upset it and until you know what you'd be pegging in the dark randomly swapping out components...

Quick update. It might not be the gearbox. Power down under 3k rpm is same as usual, but once over 3k it feels like the car is dragging 10 tonnes. The cat converter is rattling it's a** off, and the exhaust sounds drony and dull. Maybe it's my cat and not my transmission? Fingers crossed it's the cat, as that's a f**k load cheaper to fix.

So far, it's managed to stop f**k up for a little bit, but then happens again within 10 minutes. I really don't feel like un-bolting my cat, as when I had to tighten it the other day, I couldn't use a ratchet because the side of the cat was too close to the nuts.

Also, how do I un-block it if it is blocked?

I'm going to replace my oxy sensor and coils first. oxy hasn't been changed since I've had the car. And new coils will be nice. if that doesn't fix it, I'll take the cat off and check it.

pointless canging the coils if they are fine.

oxy sensor may need changing but check your cat first.

I already got the oxy sensor. going to put it in this arvo. test drive and if it works, I'll leave it at that.
