Are you talking about the neutral shift on the box? I thought it just stopped your car starting in gear?


nah its not wired that way in a factory setup...it is very common for people to do it like that but...

im not sure of the effect it would have if u are running a manual computer..think it would see it as in gear all the time...

All E series factory manual cars will start in gear AFAIK.

dragging up a very old thread but:
clutch and neutral switch in parallel to pin 30 on eec4 ECU'S so ecu knows when its in neutral with clutch out or clutch in changing gears . Lowers idle and reduces rev hang during gear change by shorting pin 30 to earth. I have used this method from EA (as per wiring schematics) to current ecu 97 XH and without it rev hang and poor idle. Thats my 2 cents worth anyway.
