i tried doing a few searches to see if this has been covered before but couldn't find a definitive answer, so here goes.
i'm still a bit new to mods but was trying to come up with different ideas for an intake when i found after long drive the intake manifold was fairly hot...and as such is it marginally heating up the air coming into the engine?! so my query, is it feasible to perhaps heat shield the intake manifold to keep incoming air temps down? i was thinking of perhaps heat shielding paint (mainly coz i'm on a tight budget and ceramic coating is costly).

I put an insulating spacer between my manifold and head:
 It does work well. After longer drives I noticed the manifold was almost the same temperature as the head.. AKA I couldn't touch it lol. But after adding this it has never got beyond where I can't touch it. I don't see much point with a heatshield, you aren't shielding it from anything. You could add some air vents to the bonnet to allow hot engine bay air to escape, and as you said, heat shield paint / ceramic coating. |

cheers tyler, i never would have thought about an insulating spacer...what is it made from? did u make it urself?

those spacers also lenghen the runners giving better bottom end, but effecting the top end by not being as short
heat shielding would be pointless, just get a phonelic spacer, and ceremic coat the intake manifold or vents in the bonnet

Fiend hooked me up....
Haven't had a hot manifold since, A1 effort complete with mushroom decal  Only worry about the injecter spray pattern; but I shouldn't, only a slight movement (10mm) could possibly be corrected but there's no fecking point... It's fine.
