I've noticed there is a lot of wasted space in the spare tyre well above the fuel tank in the back of my wagon. was wondering if ford ever had a long range tank available, or would it be a custom tank to fully utilise the space around the tyre?

offically 72 litres, however you can squeeze a lot more in.

pfft the 36 gallon tank was only 2 ordinary tank lower halves welded together!
besides which, i highly doubt that a XY tank would fit a later model falcon

just thinking, you probably couldn't use that area around the spare wheel, because the filler would need to be higher. may not be to the extent of not being able to get fuel to flow uphill, but i'm sure their would be some design rules involved that would cost to much to do it.
