hi all I've just put another air con pump in my sons ef i6 as the old one ceased . now the one i've put on won't switch on(not spinning) i have power going to the pump it will spin freely buy hand and no noise from the pulley. are they meant to have gas in for them to work or is this one f*^ked as well.

they have a pressure switch in the system, so no, it wont operate if no gas.....
