My power steering rack is leaking fluid and I was wondering where would you go to get it fixed? It is leaking on to the exhaust and creating smoke. Can it be serviced or fixed? Or is this a whole new part?

I also am wondering that with the ghia models having speed senitive power steering would I need a ghia spec steering rack? I can get my hands on a standard ef one pretty cheap. If I lose the ssps i'm not too bothered.

Any help appreiciated.

Thanks Josh.

sounds like rack ends need to be replaced, As Uniacidz mentioned, any decent steering joint worth their salt will be able to look and diagnose if its repairable of terminal.

I'm positive SSPS wasn't introduced until EL.

Well you won't understand me then - I find it great, particularly getting around carparks.

Correct - no NF would have SPSS - unless someone fitted all the EL gear (including ECU)

As for the arguement - I lost my SPSS when I converted my ghia to a V8 (as the XR8 ECU cannot control the SPSS)... I wish it still worked :(

Think about it....if you DON'T have ABS, Cruise control, Climate control, power windows, power sunroof, SSPS, Self Levelling rear suspension.....then there is less to go wrong......right?
I'm just takin the p!ss, Snap0964, anyway.
Maybe your Humour Control needs adjusting....????.....:P

Nah, all I was asking was why would SSPS be classed as something more to go wrong over std P/S. :?:

Yeah, the benefits you get by having them though is so much better - reliability is improving. The exception is SLS - that was a dog :P .
