Ride: AU1 XR8 Ute, EL Fairmont

Location: Broadford
VIC, Australia

Hey,

I have recently completed a manual conversion on my Fairmont, everything is great, went well with the help from the conversion thread on this site.

I was just wondering if there is any difference in length of either the tailshaft or the extension housing on the gearbox between ef and el?
I have an el Fairmont, ef diff, I think ef gearbox and tailshaft.

The tailshaft has been balanced and had the vibration dampener removed, but it just seems a little bit short, it drives, but it has me worried that it could fall out at some stage. I am going to put a tailshaft loop in as a precaution, but I would rather fix it properly.

Any help would be fantastic.

Cheers,
Nash

All E series SWB Tail shafts are the same length no matter if it is Manual or Auto. AU auto and Manual are different lengths.

Short Wheel Base = SWB = Sedan
Long Wheel Base = LWB = Wagon + Fairlane + LTD

Thanks,

Evan.
