Anti-clockwise.

What type of filter wrench are you using?

anti-clockwise.

never go wrong witht he screwdriver. If the strap or clamp doesnt work, the screw driver will. I dont understand why everyone overtightens oil filters all the time!

You should get yourself a clamp type filter wrench, far better then the belt style.

Yeah, clamp pretty easy... nothing beats the screwdriver tho, not like the filter's gonna be reused...

Easier to get from the bottom IMO...

haha, everytime i do a screw driver it normally isn't good enough, it starts cuting though the filter, i get a hammer and one of the factory wheel nut undo'ers just a single pipe one with a sharp bit on the end, not the x type, that always gets em off better then the screwdriver..., but thats IMO

best thing i've ever found for getting oil filters off is either one of the steel band type filter straps, or a soft leather riggers glove.....

its not overtightening them that makes them a prick to get off, its that no one oils the seal before they put it on
