hey guys, thought id paint up my rocker cover on my xh falcon with some heat proof paint, but its has become quite an ordeal,

after putting it on it seems that the rocker cover just isnt sealing right. around the back of the cover near the fire wall, in the d shaped valley.

i have pulled it off a number of times and checked the gasket, and it seems fine, when i clean the oil from the back after a decent drive there is a bit of oil on the back, just annoying as it never did it before? is there a nack to doing it? should i use gasket sealer? any help would be great!

thanks!

i had the same problem what i did was clean both sides of the gaskit and where the gaskit meets the head and seal it with some blue or red silicone and place the rocker cover back on.

hope this helps.

it is good to use the sealer stuff, just enough to help with sealing i replaced my rocker cover gasget and it still leaked a little, put a small amount of sealer around it and its fine now

Toyota makes an awesome silicone sealer.
Or try out Threebond sealer, could even be the same product.

When you pull the gasket off is it still flexible or is it hard, they usually dont seal if they are goig hard.
Never had to use sealant on a falcon rocker cover.

The things that apply pressure to the rocker cover gasket is the rubber's under the heads of the bolts that hold the rocker cover down.
If these are flattened, over time and heat/cool cycles, a new rocker cover gasket isn't going to stop the oil leak.
Also with those 'O' ring type gaskets, no glue/sealant to be used.

the old ford lasers are bad for gasgets leaking, i replaced my rocker cover one, and the rubber bits in the bolts that hold it down, just didnt leak as much, everywhere i read people are complaining about their engines leaking oil like a siv

Seen the tube seals on a corolla fail and fill the spark plug tubes with oil. Couldn't even see the plugs. Tow-in of course.
