Unsure if this is where i put this, but here goes.
Since lowering my ed 3-4 years ago just the last year or so my wheel nuts come undone even my locknut as well. i have 18" rims on as well and its lowered on super lows. It got really bad at one stage where i was doing 100km down the highway and my front end started shaking violently pulled across 3 lanes got in the emergency lane and checked my wheel nuts and they were all very loose by that time. What i want to know is what is causing them to come undone and how can i fix it? cheers Brett |

Are you running spacers?

No I'm not running spacers. The nuts are 1/2inch. The old wheel nuts are much longer than these ones. Could that be at fault?

check whether the nuts are bottoming out BEFORE they actually pull up against the wheel? Maybe a shoulder on the stud, or bottoming out in the nuts perhaps? I suspect the nuts aren't correct for the wheels (or the studs/hubs) - maybe don't risk it - go to a good mag / tyre fitter and get them to check it out?

Do the mags fit neatly on the spigot of the axles ( rear ) and disc rotors ( front )??????

maybe once your nuts are screwed on so far the amount of stud poking out the other side prevents your wheel/brace/socket reaching them properly? try tightening with a longer impact socket, or if the rear of the nut is sealed over, it could be bottoming out before its tightened.

Do you have closed end nuts? Is it possible the stud is bottoming out in the nut? Do you need longer nuts?
If you do them up and jack the car up and wobble the wheel, is the wheel loose? I would think so because for the nuts to come loose they can't be doing up against the wheel properly... Cheers, Tim

They are closed on the end. I had thought that because the original nuts were longer and now the new ones are much shorter, should I go back to where I got them and complain? (Bob jane tmart). I'm sick of checking them everytime I go out. I haven't tried wobbling the wheel yet I will tomorrow

Just find a wreck with some open ended nuts on it... Make sure they suit your mags (taper, acorn, stalk, mag nuts, etc) and then run them for a bit... What sort of nut do your mags need? Most nowadays are taper
Cheers, Tim
