honestly im not sure. i dont understand why i t would just suddenly do it.
i mean i serviced my auto bout 3 weeks ago and havent had a problem. but there may be a chance its playing up. not sure. but thats why its a suspicion to me, im open to all thoughts though would a diff make that nice when there is no throttle applied? |

Yes, that's my I asked. if it's (the diff) howling on decelleration, it means it's wearing the back side of the teeth on the gears (the front side is used on acceleration), when there's no throttle the slack in the diff means the other side of the teeth are being utilised. First section here explains better: http://bernardembden.com/xjs/diff/index.htm

hmm thats interesting, just seems bizzare it would happen so suddenly, although when it says it does it when the oil is warmed up, mine does it straight off the mark.
will replacing the oil in the diff be of any help? thanks, jacob |

confirm where the noise is coming from first.

after having a bit of a listen on the way to and from work. im starting to think it is.
when i put it into the first second and third part of the auto, it is a little but more louder and defined as the engine is slowing the car down, meaning that it would be using the back of the teeth as you said? |
