Non response from when you turn the key could be a number of things.
1) smartlock module (BCM) has dry joints, Very commom issue. 2) Ignition barrel contacts loose. 3) Starters rooted. The crunching noise would be the pinion not engaging into the ring gear when it tries to start. I would start off with replacing the Starter as the more you do it, the more damage you do to the flexplate.

Sounds like ignition barrel to me. The end of it works loose hence intermediate contacts. Eventually will not work at all. If it is this you can fix by using a hammer and screwdriver to groove barrell in a few places to hold back plate on.

Like above, id start with the startermotor. When if dosnt want to start get a mate to jump under neath with a hammer/ shifter/ other handy multi-tools and have him tap the starter (on the larger barrel part) whilst you crank the key.
Also with these in auto the neutral switch, or inhibitor switch it may be called, stuff up and give similar problems. Try moving the shifter from park to neutral a few times, also sometimes you need to have them In park and push the lever a bit further forward. |
