is there a way i could fix this with out having to pull the motor out and rebuild or overhaul the timming chain |

Could be rubbing on one of the timming guides, top guide could have snapped under wear n tear, you could take the rocker cover off and see if the chain has any slack in it.
as for rebuilding/overhauling it can be done in the engine bay but is a real pain, to be able to get clear accses to the bottom end you need to remove the radiator and all the accessories, |

No engine mods is p plate legal.
Cam chip and other things that are harder to pic are sneaky mods. It is possible o do the timing chain and guides In car but the bottom guide is a hastle. Especially if it falls in the sump....... Any other symptoms? Chain rattle at high rpm.? |

I'd just rebuild the head, heavy valve springs, cam, chip, vernier cam gear.
Blueprinting costs a fair wack. You've probably just snapped a guide, very very common |
