Hey guys I'm currently using factory wiring in my door woofers running to my amp. I know putting aftermarket wire in won't make much if any noticiable difference but I've got lots of it here and it's like 5 times thicker than the tiny tiny wire ford have used.
My car is a 1997 ford falcon EL Station wagon. I've heard it's extremely hard to run wires though the door? But I have a theory I think might work? Just tape the aftermarket wire to the factory wires, unplug them and then just grab the factory wires that are inside the cabin and pull them through which would also pull the new wire though with it saving a lot of time and effort??? |

Unplug the rubber seal on both sides, remove the tape from the ends, Spray it with WD, and feed the new cable you have into the seal using a coat hanger.
I've threaded heaps of wires through them, theres heaps of room. Its even easier if you remove the plugs from the body.

I have done it on both my cars it isn't that bad just it take a bit of time ahahah

ok so if running it through the door isn't that hard I may as well do it, but would just taping the new stuff to the old stuff and pulling the old stuff through actually work? It seems like it will be a lot easier than poking around with a coat hanger since i can't even see where the wires enter the cabin (probably behind the dash)

Also If you decide to revert the car to stock, you can simply do so. Nothing worse than working on car electrics that have been molestered. Its been a while and you still haven't done it, I highly recommend you go to a do-it-yourself wreckers and practice on a car. By the time you take the door cards off and unclip the loom you have plently of area to work with. Try a euro or japanese car then you'll know what difficult is.

Alright well I just can't see where the wires enter the cabin. They seem to enter in behind the dash where I can't see/get to and the grommit on the door doesn't seem to be able to be unclipped?

My method of getting wires through those door tube thingos was to unplug both sides from the door and chassis, get a safety pin, thread the wire through the hole on the bottom, stick the head part into the tube and pull it out the other side. Plug it back up and you're done. Worked for me!
With the wires entering the cabbin, remove the kick panels; on the left, remove the ecu to access an insulation cover, remove that to reveal a hole which you can reach up and pull the wires down from. With the right, same thing, just no ecu. |

I have my kick panels off since I was working on installing my subs yesterday and I did see a big hole in the kick panel with a very thick wiring loom coming out of it. I did wonder if this went up to the door grommit? Also on the passenger side this hole seems to be behind the ECU so I shouldn't need to remove it. so basically if this is the case i have to get the wire to go in, up, curve and out? That sounds quite hard to do :/ |
