G'day people,
I have read the posts in this topic on modifying cluster lights. Here is my challenge. I'm 52 and not techno savy unlike some people here. I'd like to get mine redone to brilliant blue instead of how it is as per factory built. Questions are as follows:- Q1. Do I need to remove a cluster set from EL Ford to use on AUII or just use my own? Q2. I'm in the Brisbane area and can travel from Gold Coast area to Mooloolaba if someone was willing to assist me with transformation. Willing to pay carton of beer who could do the conversion for me. if you go onto ebay for the globes i think its t5 from memory (this will only do the tach, speedo, fuel ect... u just have to take the dash out 6 or 7 screws all up on au's and yea undo the clips holding the lights in and replace with blue ones
 i am assuming this is what you ment |

If you have an EL falcon, you'll need to use EF Falcon globe holders to allow the LEDs to sit in. The EL ones are sealed.

Yeah something like that but a brighter blue. REW93N Mine is an AUII not an EF, thanks for pointing this out though. |

my cam doesn't do it Justis they are very bright nearly to bright but yea very easy to do takes hour at most

Thanks for letting me know. Is the dash easy to take off? Or would it be easier to get another dash from a wreck and work on that one just in case I damage mine before I get to the screws? Cheers |

Cheers From memory if Ur in the drivers seat there's 5 screws around the cluster 3 on top 2 on the bottom then near the radio is a few once that comes off there's 4 screws holding the cluster in... Now when Ur looking at the back of the cluster all the globe holders that Arn't in a row are the speeding and and all that the odomiter and all that need soldering when u take out the globes use a torch to see and make sure u getting the right parts hope this helps |

Thanks for the instructions. I went to ebay and typed in t5 blue leds. There are quite a few varieties. Would you know what type they are of hand? Are they dome shaped, round, flat, etc? Here is the ebay link to show you what I mean http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from ... 0211813887 Cheers |

these are the ones i got he also does it for the shifter and foot well lights so the shifter and cluster are t5's and foot well should be t10 (same as parker lights) and u know there good because i used on my dash no hot spots the only reason the bottom of my speedo is darker is because i have set up a light so i can see my speedo with out my lights on  good for stalking people

forgot to mention his are little bit more $$$$ but they do what they should i have had some that make the dash look really tacky

Now when Ur looking at the back of the cluster all the globe holders that Arn't in a row are the speeding and and all that the odomiter and all that need soldering when u take out the globes use a torch to see and make sure u getting the right parts hope this helps on an AU there is only 2 screws ont he cluster at the top you will find 2 blanking plugs that needed to be popped off then the philips head screws will be able to be removed you will then need to pry the cluster out, i stuck 2 screw drivers in the screw holes and pulled it out it can be sticky so be careful. once u have it out you will have 3 wiring plugs to remove, simple as you just press on one end in and it unclips, and they only go back 1 way so no chance of putting the plugs in the wrong sockets then you can remove cluster the globes are 1/2 turn and pull out simple

Thanks mate, I did see two holes blanked with those plastic covers. Falcon87 thanks for the link, I'll take a photo of my dash some time today and post it here. My dash does not have battery voltage indicator. |
