Has anyone removed a rear windscreen from a el fairmont sedan? remembering that these are what the experts term as "encapsulated" on. I will be grateful for any suggestions.

I have given up, I will let the pro's handle this one. I cant see how it can come out without cutting the rubber but it will depend on what year el you have, most are encapsulated but a few were'nt.
The rubbers can be bought seperately from O'brians, Novus etc. Good luck with it |

A branch fell of a tree and went through it, insurance wont cover it and a new one is between $500 and $600. The wreckers will sell me one for $45 but I have to take it out myself. Getting them out without breaking them is the tricky bit, apparently a slow and painful process.

I didnt take the glass cover option, they will cover it if I pay the $600 excess'
If you can cut the rubber back close to the edge of the glass then get a piece of piano wire, or guitar string, between the glass and the sisaflex with the help of a friend you can gently saw around and take it out in one piece..........or so I am told, this will take about one hour to do. Probably best to take it to someone so if it breaks coming out it is on them. My local Novus bloke put it straight into the to hard basket, said he would'nt touch it. |
