Hi All,
Done a search but can't find an answer to my specific problem. The story is, EF 6 cyl, fires up but stalls straight away when cold. You have to hold your foot on the accelerator to hold the revs up. Now I've put a new ISC valve on, and reset the base idle properly (when warm) it starts and idles fine when warm, no problem at all. My understanding was that you set the base idle when warm with the ISC disconnected, then when cold the ISC is meant to increase the idle speed? Is there a way to test im getting power to the ISC? Seems to me that the ISC isnt doing what its supposed to? Other things to check or change? Help appreciated as this is really starting to give me the s**ts! |

You could try disconnecting the battery for an hour to reset the ecu.

cheers for the response,
I did have the battery disconnected in an attempt to reset the ecu before i reset / adjusted the base idle, but the battery was probably only disconnectect for 10-15mins or so, would this have been long enough to reset it? |

I read somewhere while scouring the net that a bad ground from the ecu could effect the right amount of voltage actually getting to the ISC..... Got a mate with a multimeter going to check a few things tomorrow.....
On the off chance, I noticed that I have a bit of a loose negative battery terminal, ie, with it tightened up as tight as you can get it its still a bit loose around the battery..... Now could this effect the ecu or the ISC ? Or if this was a bad connection at the battery would the car not even start? |

Ok, have done the diagnosis test on the ecu with the test light and all we are getting is the 111 code meaning no faults with the ecu?
Also tested that there is voltage getting to the ISC which there is, and the ISC is brand new so that wont be the problem, ive cleaned out the throttle body before and that didnt seem to make a difference. Not sure where to go from here. As i said before it starts and idles fine when warm, drives fine, but when cold it will fire and stall straight away unless you hold the revs with your foot on the pedal. Could low fuel pressure or a bad fuel filter be causing it not to reach idle when cold but for some reason when warm it manages ok? Help? Cheers |

trying to troubleshoot this myself, the other things that seem to keep popping up are:
MAP Sensor Coolant Temp Sensor Intake Air Temp Sensor I dont want to cough up to buy each of these without having a pretty good idea that will be the fix. If it was a dodge coolant temp sensor wouldnt I have problems with my temp guage, or thermo fans running etc Not sure about the other two. |

Actually if there was a fault with any of those 3 shouldnt it have shown up in the test light flash test?
