Does anyone know what type of fit the bearings are on the diff centre and pinion gear ?
I'm hoping they are a sliding fit like the bearings on the stub axles .

All diff bearings both for pinion and carrier are press fits and the pinion head bearing has a shim usually.
The side or carrier bearings are shimmed from the sides to adjust backlash.

since they are a tapered roller bearing i can take the bearing off and leave the cone, but i dont want to use new bearings with a old cone, how tight is the fit exactly ? would they come off with a hammer and punch ?
