I had this problem in my ef, and asked the forum.
Here are the replies: "It's common in the E-series, especially the wagons. It's caused by either failure or misadjustment of the power lock motors. In my EF wagon, it was the one in the tailgate. You might have to disconnect each motor in turn to find the bad one. A quick fix (for the tailgate at least) is to disconnect the motor and use the key The only way I know is to take the door (or tailgate) inside panel off, and disconnect the motor at the connector. A straight and a philips screwdriver and a socket set (for the door handles) are all the tools you should need. Once you figure out how they are attached, they take 5 minutes max to remove. The tailgate panel has a strip of double-sided tape where it meets the window - this needs to be pried loose." efxr6wagon
